Our Lady of Sorrows procession

On Friday evening, the day dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, l-Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem organized a pageant procession. A large number of devotees took part.

The Procession started out at the church of Our Lady of Loreto (6.30pm) passing from Chambrai Street (in front of the band and football clubs), then Dun Guzepp Galea Rapa Street, Moghdija Street, Gleneagles Street, turned into Ghajnsielem Street, Our Lady of Loreto Square, Ramon Perellos Street, Indipendence Square, down Anglu Grech Street, Apparation Sqaure and finally Fawwara Street.

St. Joseph Band played funebral marches while a number of balconies were lit with candles. Some devotees even decorated their windows with images of Our Lady of Sorrows.

The procession was composed by several biblical characters. There were around seventy in all. The statue was carried by six members from the ‘Fratelli’ group. The procession ended at 8.30p.m. A mass was then concelebrated by Rev. Joseph Cardona.
