New vicar for Ghajnsielem parish

After long time discussions between Fr. Joseph Zerafa, Archpriest of Ghajnsielem and the Gozo Curia, Mons. Nikol Cauchi, Bishop of Gozo nominated Fr. Joseph Cardona as Parish Vicar of Ghajnsielem.

Fr. Joseph Cardona was born on the 26th of January 1969.  He received his primary education at the Dun Salv Vella Primary School in Nadur and his secondary education at the Ninu Cremona Lyceum in Victoria.  In September 1994 entered the Sacred Heart Seminary where he began his formation in Priesthood and got a Baccalaureate Degree in Sacred Theology.

In 1998, he passed a year in the Parish of Santa Lucia in Rome, Italy for a Pastoral experience.  In the following years he received the Ministry of Lectors and the Ministry of Acolytes.

On June 23rd 2000, Fr. Joseph was ordered a Deacon by Mons Nikol Cauchi, Bishop of Gozo.  Fr. Joseph was ordered a priest, by the Bishop of Gozo on Wednesday, 20th June 2001 in the Cathedral Church in Victoria Gozo.

After these years, he served as a priest in St. Mary’s Parish in the city of Sterling in Scotland and as a Chaplin in the Stirling Royal Infirmary (General Hospital).

Now, Fr. Joseph Cardona was nominated by the Bishop of Gozo to work in Ghajnsielem.  Apart from this, he is also working part time Chaplin in the Gozo General Hospital.
