St Joseph Band Club marks 75th anniversary

The Kurgan Symphonic Orchestra from Russia held a classical music concert in the Apparation Square as part of the celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the St. Joseph Band Club. The concert started at 8.30 p.m. in collaboration with the Council of Culture and the Ghajnsielem Local Council.

Among those present was Mayor Francis Cauchi, Hon. Fredrick Azzopardi M.P. and the President of St. Joseph Band Club Paul Scicluna. The Kurgan Symphonic Orchestra was established in 1990 and is composed of 37 musicians and was under the direction of Nikolai Aibergard. The orchestra executed works of Russian and other famous composers.

At the end of the concert Mayor Francis Cauchi and President Paul Scicluna both presented momentoes to Director Aibergard. A reception was held at the St. Joseph Band Club premises.
