Sunday: Viva L-Madonna ta' Loreto

(29th
August 2004)

Ghajnsielem is today celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Loreto. This morning Gozo Bishop Nicholas Cauchi led a pontifical concelebrated Mass (more). The traditional horse and donkey races was held in Mgarr Road at 1.30 p.m.

At 5.30 the St Margaret Band played marches from Hamri Street, followed by solemn vespers at 6.30. The procession with the statue of Our Lady (led by Mgr Gregory Grech), then, left the church at 7.30pm, accompanied by St Joseph Band and the Giuseppe Verdi Band of Tolfa. Meanwhile, 'Banda Leone' performed a musical program in the main square.

For the traditional 'Marc ta' l-Ahhar', St Joseph and Giuseppe Verdi bands played marches from Apparition Square to Our Lady of Loreto Sanctuary Square at 10.30pm

Viva ix-Xemx... Viva l-Madonna ta' Loreto!
