Monday:
Free Day and Departure
(30th
August 2004 - Day 8)
The second and
last free day, many of our Italian colleagues felt the urge to
enjoy our shores for the last time. However, as much as they
wished they could prelong their stay, the time duly came for
them to depart our village and country. With red-eyes and
even cracked voices, friends and families gave their last hugs
and kisses as they bid them farewell. Once aboard the ferry,
the memories were still strong as many Tolfani gathered to the
quay-facing side of the ferry and chanted Viva x-Xemx
for the last time (as passer-bys and other passengers on the
ferry began to ask what the commotion was all about!). As the ferry left the berth, a last salute
of car horns was given, closing one chapter of the
Ghajnsielem-Tolfa twinning, but preparing for a multitude of
stories that are to follow.
We,
at ghajnsielem.com, would like to thank the Tolfa delegation
for the time they have spent with us, for the memories they
have given us, and more importantly for their friendship which
will withstand both time and distance. Grazie per tutto e al
piu presto possible!
