Marian Week in St
Anthony's Church

In St.
Anthony’s Church was held a Miriam week in the occasion of the
150th anniversary of the proclamation of the Dogma of the
Immaculate Conception and the 50th anniversary of the
pilgrimage of the statue of our lady from Qala.
The week began on Monday 22nd November with the arrival of the
statue of the Immaculate Conception from Qala to the Church of
St. Anthony in Ghajnsielem. Wednesday was dedicated to the
children with a mass from the Archpriest of Qala, whereas on
Thursday an Academy of Music and Literature was held in Church
under the patronage of the Hon. Giovanna Debono, Minister of
Gozo. Fr. Gorg Aquilina read the speech of this occasion with
a detailed history of the arrival of the proclamation of the
Dogma, with the main focus on the theme; using Mary’s words to
Bernadette: “I am the Immaculate Conception”.
Furthermore on Friday a prayer meeting was organisedby the
GIFRA, were all youth of Ghajnsielem, Qala and Nadur were
invited to pray. Sunday began with a mass in the morning,
celebrated by Fr. Provincial with theparticipation of the
Archpriests of Ghajnsielem, Qala and Nadur. In the afternoon
was organised a pilgrimageto her sanctuary in Qala. Afterwards
a concluding mass by the Minister Provincial Fr. Paul Galea
ofm was held in the Qala Sanctuary.
