Tarmac Resurfacing in various streets

Thursday, 22nd July 2004

The Ghajnsielem Local Council is embarking on various projects related to the residential roads.  In fact, Mayor Francis Cauchi told Ghajnsielem.com that the Council is now shifting its energy on those roads which are in dire state of disrepair now that the work on other projects is finished.

Tal-Kaxxa

The first project is in the area known as tal-Kaxxa where streets are being resurfaced with hot asphalt. Here all the main water pipes are being replaced with the modern PCV pipes while essential services such as Telephone lines, electricity and TV cables are being re-allocated in an underground culvert. The areas include Guseppi Cali Street, Gawwi Street, Cief Street, Latini Street, Barumbara Street and Tal-Kaxxa Square. The work should be completed by the end of next month.

Tal-Gudja

Tal-Gudja is also undergoing infrastructure works. This area includes Triq Malta, Triq Kemmuna and Triq Filfla. All works on main water pipes and household services have been completed and in the coming days all streets will be resurfaced. As regards to Triq il-Gudja, which is in the same area, the Council has written to the Water Service Corporation for a permission to replace all the main water pipes and other household services. Tarmac resurfacing will start as soon as these works are completed.

Water Culvert at Triq il-Gnien , Pjazza Indipendenza and Triq Anglu Grech

The Ghajnsielem Local Council has kept another promise, this time by implementing a water culvert system to solve the flooding problem for its residents. The have long been complaining that their houses were being flooded with water during a heavy rainstorm. But this problem should now be solved once and for all now that the second phase of the water culvert is finished. Residents at Pjazza Indipendenza, Anglu Grech street and the Old Apparation Square should all benefit from this project.

Triq Perellos, Triq Anglu Grech and Pjazza tad-Dehra

The local council is also replacing the main water pipes and other household services at Triq Perellos, Triq Anglu Grech and at the Pjazza tad-Dehra. The council will resurface these streets with tarmac as soon as all the work on essential services is finished.
