Match postponed,
Ferry service suspended
(Sunday,
14th November 2004)
Considerable
damage was caused to one of the docks at the Mgarr Harbour
Yacht Marina as strong winds exposed the Maltese islands. The
strong winds also led to a disruption of the Gozo Channel
services for most of the day while the Blacks's match against Xewkija Tigers has been
postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
On Saturday, the
Maltese islands experienced mist or fog together with some
rain showers at times. This weather was characterized by the
presence of a warm sector of warm and very humid air. Warm
sectors are a preferred area for the initial development of
thick convection and bad weather ahead of a cold front. Also
yesterday, a huge tornado was seen close to Nadur (see image
below).
