Deborah Cassar wins
Golden Cross in Macedonia
(18th November 2004)
Deborah
Cassar was able to continue establishing herself as a
promising singer. Recently she represented Malta at the
Asterisks International Singing Festival held in Macedonia.
The Ghajnsielem born 14 year old, participated by the song
“One day at a time”, written and composed by herself. The
festival was held on two-day basis, with 22 participants each
session. Deborah presented her song on Friday, where she
classified 4th to make it to the finals. During the final
session on Sunday she gave an excellent interpretation and was
awarded a diploma and declared Princess of the Festival.
The first experience at international level can also be
considered as the threshold for the young singing talent from
Gozo. On her arrival back home, she soon got another
invitation from Spain to participate at another youth festival
there. Serious consideration is being given to such an
opportunity. Only scholastic duties can hold her back from
participation.
In Macedonia, Deborah was accompanied by her mother Flavia,
and a group of friends, which group was lead by Mr. Anthony
Grech, Executive Director of the Golden Cross International
Singing Festival.
