Teenager wins
International Song Festival
(10th
October 2004)
Deborah Cassar, 14, of
Ghajnsielem, won the overall public opinion trophy during the
Golden Cross International Children and Youth Singing
Festival, held recently at Sir Temi Zammit Hall of the
University of Malta.
The festival's executive director, Anthony Grech, presented
the trophy and certificate to Ms Cassar, who won the most
public support for her song One day at a time, of which she
wrote both the music and the lyrics.
This festival has received an enormous response from eight
different countries around the world. The foreign singers
participating in this Festival were from Sicily, Italy,
Macedonia, Bosnia, Poland, Russia, Bulgaria and Moldavia,
making up a nicely formed group of 12 participants. Maltese
participants amounted to 35.
Ms Cassar is now being offered the opportunity to represent
Malta abroad and has been invited to perform in Macedonia on
October 20.
