Ghajnsielem Week: Final Day
New Warehouse for Street Decorations Inaugurated
(Sunday, 10th December
2006)

Just a few hours after the ceremony of Installation of Can. Frankie Bajada as the new Archpriest of Ghajnsielem, the Ghajnsilmizi had another reason to celebrate. The 10th of December is the liturgical Feast of Our Lady of Loreto - It's Ghajnsielem Day!

Hundreds of people intermingled with the St Joseph bandsmen and a band march started from the Old Parish Square and marched into the feast-decorated main square then ending in Chambray Street. The band left the old square around 6.30pm and arrived in front of the Ghaqda Armar's new warehouse an hour later.

As the crowd of people gathered around the entrance of the new warehouse, Archpriest Can. Frankie Bajada and Archpriest Emeritus, Mons. Joseph Zerafa made a short speech for the occasion. As the St Joseph Band played the rousing 'Viva x-Xemx', amid the cheers and applause of the crowd, it was then blessed and officially opened by Rudolph Cauchi. Members of the Ghaqda Armar popped the champagne bottles and once again it was time to celebrate!

The week-long activities, better known as the 'Ghajnsielem Week' finally came to an end. It included day-trips, get-together events, a successful music festival, sports-day, a visit to the sick and elderly and many other activities. Many are now looking forward to make these 7 days of celebrations and activities an annual calendar event.

Only one word can now describe the 2006 Ghajnsielem Week - A SUCCESS
