Easter Pageant 2006: "Is-Salib tal-Fidwa"
(Tuesday, 22nd
March 2006)

Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem will be staging the passion play "Is-Salib tal-Fidwa" on 10th and 11th April 2006 at Ghajnsielem Parish church at  8.00pm

"Is-Salib tal-Fidwa", written by JoAnne Debrincat is the 19th production of the Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem since its formation in 1987. Its priority was to organize activates during Holy Week and one can truly say that it succeeded in stirring devotion, making this special time of the year an experience for those who feel compelled to enter deeply into the experience of the Passion of Our Lord. Almost 50 actors will be taking part.

The Story

What does a Cross means? What is it's meaning? What does it make you think about?

Although in today's world one cannot understand fully what does it mean to be crucified, still when one hears the word cross one immediately associate with it pain, burden, suffering and humiliation.

Jesus was crucified on a Cross. Why did he choose the Cross? Because the Cross represents the ugliness of humanity. But as soon as Jesus accepted to carry the cross, the meaning of the Cross was transformed because the Cross was the instrument which gave us the God's forgiveness and His Grace...

Now it is our turn, Jesus is inviting us to share with Him in our = salvation, as he invited Simon of Cyrene. Simon represents every one of = us. We are all invited to walk besides Jesus on His way to Golgotha. But are we being reluctant to accept the Cross; the price of the Cross = is dear and painful...
