Ghajnsielem covered
with a
blanket of fog
(Thursday, 26th October 2006)
During the last few days,
the weather was very untypical Maltese, with a blanket
of fog literally covering the island. Although most of
it had cleared by noon, the fog is still blanketing some
parts of the island.
The Malta International Airport's Meteorological Office
said that the fog formed during the night due to a high
level of humidity in the atmosphere, which met a cold
spell.
As dawn broke, visibility on the islands was very low,
especially in towns and villages near the sea. The Gozo
Channel Line was not effected and all ferries crossed
between the two islands on a normal schedule except for
minor disruptions late in the evening.
