The young artist Vince
Caruana has just returned to the Maltese Islands with an
M.A. in Visual Arts from the Libera Accademia di Belle
Arti in Florence, one of the most distinguished art
institutions in Europe. Deciding to fine tune his
artistic skills, he left the islands to attend the
Libera Accademia di Belle Arti where he was classically
trained in painting, sculpture, installation,
environmental art, photography, and video. Being a
dedicated and a continuously striving student, Vince
Caruana was awarded ''Il Migliore Allievo dell’Anno '05
– '06''.
This Master programme has
provided space for the artist to participate in various
exhibitions amongst which are the Loggia del Grano of
the Uffizi Centre and the Quarter, both in Florence. He
has also gained the experience of museology at The Peggy
Guggenheim in Venice and at Il Museo Leonardesco di
Vinci, in Leonardo’s hometown.
Being reared in the shadow
of his uncle, the artist Anton Caruana, Vince Caruana
(b. 1979) has dedicated most of his years to the arts.
He studied at the School of Arts in Malta where he
received tuition from various established local artists
including Luciano Micallef and Anton Calleja and has
further enhanced his education at Scranton College of
Arts Pennsylvania, USA. Currently, Vince Caruana is an
art teacher at the Gozo School of Arts.
Vince Caruana has etched out
his own intriguing style. As the cycles of day and
night, of the moon, and of the seasons were instrumental
in the formation of the ancient psyche – the rhythms of
primary culture, these same underlying rhythms, largely
hidden in our everyday experience, triggers off the
whims of the artist’s paintbrush. Considering his style
as a 21st Neo Geometric Abstraction, this young artist
has numerous awards to his credit. He has mounted three
solo exhibitions and has participated in several
collective exhibitions including the Malta Biennale,
Madiera International Arte Bienal (Portugal), Tempra
Accademy (Connecticut, USA), and the Akademie Klausenhof
of Hamminken (Germany).
Having art as a source of
nourishment and refreshment for his own spirit and soul,
the artist invites you to enjoy his works late this year
where he will be mounting his fourth solo exhibition.
