The catholic church is today celebrating Palm Sunday. This day observes the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, that was marked by the crowds who were in Jerusalem for Passover waving palm branches and proclaiming him as the messianic king. All the parishes of Malta and Gozo on Palm Sunday (in Maltese Ħadd il-Palm) bless the palm leaves and the olive leaves

Ghajnsielem commemorated this event with the re-enactment of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. The re-enactment started at 9.00am from the Old Parish Church and ended in the main square. The event was organized by 'L-Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem'.
