The 44th
Congress of the Holy Name Society reached its peak this
afternoon with a programme of various activities. A
parade, in which the Victoria Scout Group and the St
Joseph Band took part, left Apparition Square in the
evening. The main square
was packed with hundreds of parishioners from all over
Gozo.
A variety
of programme including mimes and religious music than
followed. The highlight of the event was a concelebrated
Mass led by Bishop Mario Grech with the participation of
the Lauretana choir, under the direction of Lelio
Spiteri.
The last
time that Ghajnsielem hosted the Congress of the Holy
Name Society was 14 years ago, back in 1993. This is
because the Presidency of the Congress is rotated on a
yearly basis between all the villages in Gozo.
