Festa 2007 - The
Highlights (Wednesday, 29th August
2007)
This year's
feast can only be described as “overwhelming”. Everyone was
proud with the great feast that our village had. It was
flawless from an organizational point of view. The
spectacular way that statue of Our Lady of Home crossed the
main square to the pedestal, the 'kaxxa tad-dhul' and the
firework shows impressed the multitude of crowds that
swarmed our village. There is no doubt that there no other
village can match the briju of our festa.
Unfortunately the end of the feast also meant the end of
transmission for Radju Lauretana due to license
restriction. Hopefully the station will open again next
December. The station will be truly missed by many. A
big thank you goes for Lelio Spiteri for his impeccable
management and successful coverage of all the feast
activities.
It was also a
record breaking weekend for ghajnsielem.com with an
impressive 21,000 hits (over 7000 hits daily!). A
staggering 1300 photos were uploaded on this website
during the whole week of celebrations.
A strong delegation
of 60 Italians from Tolfa were also among us
for the east celebrations.
Many
were impressed with the way the Ghajnselmizi celebrate
the feast.
A close friendship already exists between the people of
Ghajnsielem and Tolfa and there is no doubt that this trip renewed
it.
