A record Year
During the last twelve months, over 145 news articles
were posted on the website. This means an average of one
article every 2 or 3 days. It is also worth nothing that
these articles contain a staggering record of 2450
photos. A special thanks must go to our photographer
Joseph Sultana who was present in all the major
activities that took place in Ghajnsielem. The news
articles are updated by Kevin Cauchi.

Website Traffic
The website is also increasing in popularity with an
average of 360 fresh hits per day. Each visitor clicked
on at least 2 other pages during each visit since the
daily page impression averaged more than 900 hits. The
most popular day was registered on Monday 27th August
2007 when Ghajnsielem.com registered 8,271 page
impressions. The most popular section (excluding the
homepage and the news articles) was the guestbook. The
Ghajnsielem F.C. also enjoys a high rate of daily
visitors.

A New Facelift
During the past twelve months, Ghajnsielem.com also
underwent a minor facelift and minor design changes. The
‘General Information’, ‘History’ and ‘Places of
Interest’ sections were completely redesigned and
updated. These sections offer a library of resources
related with our village and are ideal for students,
foreigners or for those who simply want to learn more
about Ghajnsielem. The navigation experience was also
improved while other minor services such as the
satellite map, translation tool and chatroom were also
added.
Putting our village Online
Ghajnsielem.com was launched in July 2002 in the form of
a simple website offering general information about
Ghajnsielem. Today, Ghajnsielem.com has proudly turned
into a web-portal or a one-stop site for everything
associated with our village. In fact, it is the only
website in Malta and Gozo that managed to keep all the
organizations represented together under “one roof”.

The website is backed by all the main
organizations including the Ghajnsielem Local Council,
St Joseph Band Club, Ghajnsielem Football Club and the
Boy’s Museum. Instead of visiting 5 or 6 separate
websites to keep up-to-date with what’s happening in
your community (as it is the case in most towns and
villages), www.ghajnsielem.com is the only address you
need to remember!
Looking Ahead
The website is planning many exciting features for the
future. One of the ideas which is seriously being
considered is a new section dedicated to all the
Ghajnselmizi who contributed towards the development of
our village. The section will be called ‘Hall of Fame’
and will include all those people who won the ‘Gieh
Ghajnsielem’ Award and other citizens who passed away
but their service and contribution shall never be
forgotten.
The idea of opening an old-photos gallery
is also being considered. Meanwhile the ‘Online Tour’
section is also currently being revamped and will now
include several 360° virtual panorama photos showing all
the main places of Ghajnsielem.
Your Contribution
Since Ghajnsielem.com is being run on a voluntary basis,
donations are needed especially to fund the hosting
service, run live webcams during certain activities and
to offer other services. Ghajnsielem.com will soon lunch
a PayPal Payment service. PayPal allows visitors to give
donations online by using their credit-cards in a
totally secure and safe environment. The procedure is
fast, simple and completely secure.
Meanwhile, all those who would like to
join our team by contributing with their articles,
making research or taking photos - you are certainly
more than welcome!
