MTL Fest 2007
For the
second consecutive year, the GSM Youths organized the MTL FEST 2007. The show
offered three hours of live entertainment. Over 300 tickets were sold
as the theatre hall was packed with people eager too see
what talents the young Ghajnsilmizi had to offer.
J. Anvil
entertained the crowd throughout all the event with
his spontaneous jokes, salsa dances and by singing two
of his well-known hits. J Anvil became popular with the
Maltese public thanks to his participation in the
Malta's Song for Europe festival with his song “You”,
which immediately became a hit in Malta.
The event started
with a short video-clip demonstration showing the
highlights of 2007. The show then offered a variety of songs, comedies and
dances. Participants included the Glamour Girls who
performed 'Rise Up' and 'Do it well', Deborah Cassar
with her hits 'Oh Holy Night' and 'When you're Gone',
Tabita Cassar Bonnet with 'You Raised Me Up', Charlene
Muscat with 'Breakaway' and 'Everytime We Touch', Daphne
Grech with 'Io Canto' and 'Dawl li jemmen', Margerita
Camilleri and Elise Themua with 'I'm your angel' and
Daphne, Loretta and Edera performing 'Miracle'. The
Calypso, Gozo Friends and Gozo line dancers also took
part. The event also included four comedies.
The event was sponsored by the Ghajnsielem Local Council. Many were left impressed with the local talent
and were left wondering what these youth can offer for
the future. The show ended with a short musical comedy
were several members of the Ghaqda Armar dressed as a
woman and imitated the 'Barbie Girl' music video.
Prize-Day Ceremony
The Anton Cassar Primary School
organized the annual prize day to reward the
hard-working students for their achievements.
To
commemorate this event, Mayor Francis Cauchi presented
Lm150 worth of books for the school library while thanking the
School Headmistress for her cooperation and hard work in
attempts to give our children knowledge and skills in
order to prepare them for future life. Gozo Minister, Hon.
Giovanna Debono and Gozo Bishop, Mgr. Mario Grech,
Archpriest Frankie Bajada and the councillors were
also present for the event.
