Following
the success of last year's events, the main
organizations will be organizing a series of activities
to renew and revive the 'Ghajnsielem Week' tradition.
The
Ghajnsielem Local Council will launch the activities by
organizing a day
dedicated to the sick and elderly where the the mayor
together with the councillors and representatives of the
main organizations will try to bring some joy and
happiness by visiting the elderly people at home. The
council will also be awarding the 'Premju Gieh
Ghajnsielem' to a local citizen who has contributed to
the development of the Ghajnsielem community. Last
year's winner was Loreto Galea who was awarded for his
outstanding dedication and commitment to the St Joseph
Band Club. A gala-dinner will also be organized.
For the
second consecutive year, the GSM Youths will be
organizing the MTL FEST 2007. This is going to be
held on Friday, 7th of December at the Ghajnsielem
Parish Center and will offer over three hours of
live entertainment. The event is being sponsored by the
Ghajnsielem Local Council.
The St
Joseph Band Club will also be playing band marches to
commemorate the liturgical Feast of Our Lady of Loreto.
This year, there is the possibility that the band march
is held on Sunday, 9th of December in the form of a
procession although nothing is confirmed yet. More details on this event will be announced soon.
The Anton
Cassar Primary School will also be holding its annual
Prize Day. The students will be taking part in several
cultural activities to enhance this event.
The 'Ghajnsielem
Week' is the revival of an old tradition of dedicating 7
days of celebrations for our village. The activities
usually involve all the main organizations in
Ghajnsielem. The highlight of these activities usually
takes place on the 10th of December, on the liturgical
Feast of Our Lady of Loreto. This day is also referred
by many as 'Jum Ghajnsielem'.
