Visit to the Sick and Elderly - 4.30pm
The Ghajnsielem Local Council is organizing a day
dedicated to the sick and elderly where the the mayor
together with the councillors and representatives of the
main organizations will try to bring some joy and
happiness by visiting the elderly people and the sick
ones at home. The St
Joseph Band Club, Ghajnsielem F.C. and Ghaqda Armar will
also be taking part in this activity.
'Gieh Ghajnsielem ' Award Ceremony - 7.15pm
The council will also be awarding the 'Premju Gieh
Ghajnsielem' to a local citizen who has contributed to
the development of the Ghajnsielem community. Last
year's winner was Loreto Galea who was awarded for his
outstanding dedication and commitment to the St Joseph
Band Club. The award ceremony will be in the form of a gala-dinner
at the Grand Hotel.
Prize Day at the Ghajnsielem Primary School - 12.00pm
The Anton
Cassar Primary School will also be holding its annual
Prize Day. The students will be taking part in several
cultural activities to enhance this event. The
Ghajnsielem Local Council and representatives from the
main organizations will also be present for this special
day for our students
MTL
Fest 2007 - 8.00pm
For the
second consecutive year, the GSM Youths will be
organizing the MTL FEST 2007. The show will offer over three hours of
live entertainment. J. Envil will be the special
guest of the show. The event is being sponsored by the Ghajnsielem Local Council.
Tickets are available from the Parish Center Bar.
Radju Lauretana back on Air - 7.00am
Radio Lauretana will be back on air for another whole
month of broadcasting. After the overwhelming response
and support from all last August, Radju Lauretana will
be ready to embark on a new schedule which will include
the coverage of Liturgical Feast of Our Lady of Loreto
and Christmas Activities. Radio Director Lelio Spiteri
is promising another 4 weeks of exciting entertainment
for everyone.
Boat Show
Exhibition - 2.00pm
Mayor Francis Cauchi will inaugurate a boat show
exhibition which is being organised in collaboration
with the
Imperial Gozo Yacht Club. The main theme of the exhibition
will be the long forgotten
'Dghajjes tal-Latini'. The exhibition will be held at the
new club's premises
in
24 Manuel De Vilhena Street, Mgarr. The show will remain
open until Sunday 9th December (9.00am - 11.00am and
2.00pm - 4.00pm).
Procession with the statue of the Black Madonna -
5.30pm
For the first time,
Ghajnsielem will be celebrating the Liturgical Feast of
Our Lady of Loreto in the form of a procession where the
St Joseph Band Club will be accompanying the statue of
the Black Madonna from the Old Parish Church through
Perellos Street and around the main square. A bonfire
will than be started in the 'Pjazza' as the Ghajnselmizi
will gather around it singing joyful songs and marches
together with the St Joseph Band. This is the first time
that the Black Madonna is being taken out for the
procession following the suggestion of Amabile Xuereb.
This statue of the Black Madonna was acquired in Rome
and paid for by Frangisk Mizzi in 1924. The building of
the new parish church has been under its protection and
in fact, it was taken inside the old church on 13th
September 1924, on the eve of the laying of the
foundation stone of the new church.
Liturgical Feast of Our Lady of Loreto - 3.15pm
Holy rosary
prayers will start at 3.15pm. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech
will be a special guest at Radju Lauretana. The program
starts at 4.00pm. A concelebrated mass will start at
6.00pm. The orchestra will be taking part under the
direction of Mro Frankie Debono. Fr Martin Mamo will
deliver the preach. Eucharistic celebration will also
take place at the end of the concelebrated mass. The
activities will also be broadcasted on Radju Maria.
Visit to Comino- 9.00am
The Ghajnsielem Local Council will be keeping the yearly
tradition of visiting the families which are currently
living in the island of Comino during the Ghajnsielem
Week. This year, due to the activities that will be
taking place on Sunday 9th December, the Council decided
to move this activity for seven days later.
