Another great year for Ghajnsielem.com
(Monday, 29th December
2008)
Another
record year
Statistics first... During the last twelve months, over
180 news articles were posted on this
website meaning an average of 1 article every 2 days. It is also worth
nothing that these articles contain a combined record of
2820 photos, almost 400 more photos then
last year. A special thanks goes to our photographer Joseph Sultana who was
present in all the major activities that took place in Ghajnsielem. The news
articles and features were all written by Kevin Cauchi.

New website
features in 2008
One of the major additions to Ghajnsielem.com was certainly
the 'Biography
Section' which
immediately proved an instant hit with our visitors.
The section includes the story of all those
personalities who won the ‘Gieh Ghajnsielem’ Award and other
citizens whose service and contribution shall never be
forgotten.
Another
addition for 2008 was the introduction of short
videos clips
to complement the news articles. These videos proved very
popular especially during the Feast. The
'Feast Section' was
also completely re-designed with better navigation.
For this year's feast, Ghajnsielem.com has also printed a
set of t-shirts with
the website's logo
and featuring the words 'Viva x-Xemx'. These t-shirts proved
very popular with the Ghajnslemizi and were completely sold
out.

Ghajnsielem.com also launched an
Interactive Timeline Story
for the history section which gives visitors the opportunity
to re-live the history of Ghajnsielem in an interactive and
whole new way!
A secure online
payment system
(PayPal) was also added in the middle of this year.
PayPal allows visitors to give donations
online by using their credit-cards in a totally secure and
safe environment. The procedure is fast, simple and
completely secure.
And finally, thanks to the
Ghajnsielem.com
RSS Feeds Service, you can
get the latest news from
Ghajnsielem delivered straight to your desktop, PDA or
mobile phone in an automated way.

An example of Ghajnsielem.com's RSS Feed Service
Putting our village Online
Ghajnsielem.com was launched in July 2002 in the form of a
simple website offering general information about
Ghajnsielem. Today, Ghajnsielem.com has proudly turned into
a web-portal or a one-stop site for everything associated
with our village. In fact, it is the only website in Malta
and Gozo that managed to keep all the organizations
represented together under “one roof”.
The website is backed by all the main organizations
including the Ghajnsielem Local Council, St Joseph Band
Club, Ghajnsielem Football Club and the Boy’s Museum.
Instead of visiting 5 or 6 separate websites to keep
up-to-date with what’s happening in your community (as is
the case in most towns and villages), ghajnsielem.com is the
only address you need to remember!

Looking Ahead
For 2009, ghajnsielem.com is planning several exciting
features. The website is currently working on a
state-of-the-art 360° Virtual Tours section which promises
to put the beauty of our village online. Ghajnsielem.com
will also be launching a Screensaver Section with each
screensaver showing a major place of interest on your
desktop while your computer is idle!
The idea of opening an old-photos gallery is also seriously
being considered.
Your Contribution
Since Ghajnsielem.com is being run on a voluntary basis,
donations are needed especially to fund the hosting service,
run live webcams during certain activities and to offer
other services. Thanks to our PayPal Payment service you can
send us your small donation online by using your
credit-cards in a totally secure and safe environment.
