New Ghajnsielem F.C. Committee formed

(Sunday, 29th June
2008)

A strong crowd this morning enthusiastically approved the new Ghajnsielem F.C. Committee for the 2008/9 season. The new administration will be led by President Sammy Rapa who is well known for his managerial skills and experience in the tourism sector. The extraordinary general meeting which started at 11.00am took place in the form of a rally with players, ex-players, members and beneficiaries giving the full support to the new members of the committee.

New GFA President Alvin Grech made a short introduction reminding all those present that during the last AGM held on the 6th of June, no potential candidates were nominated for the new committee. The GFA therefore assigned Victor Xerri and Alex Spiteri to seek potential candidates to form a new administration.

Honorary President Joe Cauchi also made a short speech focusing on the sacrifice and dedication that each previous administrations gave to the Club. Ghajnsielem Mayor Francis Cauchi welcomed the new administration and urged everyone to contribute for the success of the Club. The Mayor invited all the Ghajnselmizi to engage in healthy debates while refraining from negative critique. He ended his speech suggesting that all those who have an opinion should approach a member of the committee for discussion rather then raise it in public.

The present crowd felt a sense of unity as it was then then announced that outgoing President Raymond Grech has been appointed as Honorary President of the Club.

Finally it was Mr Sammy Rapa's turn to deliver his maiden speech. He started by narrating some of his personal experiences from the days when he was a goal keeper and when he still used to live in Ghajnsielem. He seemed visibly honoured to manage such a prestigious Club and pledged to give his full support and dedication. His leadership will be based on seriousness and sincerity while insisting that the Club's doors are open to everyone. Mr Rapa warned that in order to succeed, a sense of discipline must first be developed especially among the players and the supporters. He felt confident that the Club's future is bright and assured everyone that he will work hard to unleash the potential of Ghajnsielem's youths.
