The current administration
led by President Raymond Grech and Vice
President/Treasurer Alfio Rapa gave a detailed report
analyzing the Ghajnsielem Football Club's work during
the last 12 months before announcing that they will not
be seeking re-election for the 2008/9 season.
Since there are no potential
candidates nominated for the new committee, the GFA has
assigned Victor Xerri and Alex Spiteri to seek five
potential candidates to form a new administration. A
general meeting will again be held in 30 days time.
In his
final speech as Club President, Raymond Grech thanked
all those who offered and dedicated their services to
the Club. One of his biggest satisfaction was the
foundation of the 'Special Members Club' which is being
managed by Paul Debono and which managed to attract over
110 members in just a few months. Mr Grech was very
disappointed that his personal ambition of completing the 5-a-side pitch has not
even yet started. Several months were lost because the local
Parish authorities insisted on making the necessary
researches about the title of the land adjacent the Band
Club premises. It was later found that the land is owned
by the Government's Joint Office. Discussions were held
with the Ghajnsielem Local Council to partially finance
this project.

It is
worth noting that thanks to several attractive
sponsorships agreements which were signed during the
last few months, the Club's overall's debts have been
drastically reduced to just Lm15,422, (€35,925) nearly
almost 50% decrease from the previous year.
Treasurer
Alfio Rapa's report focused on technical information
highlighting several projects which were held during the
last 12 months including new sponsorship agreements, the
leasing of the Gym Area which will now be
turned into a state-of-the-art sports centre (players
will be training free of charge), the contract tender
for the cleaning of the Public Toilets in collaboration
with the Ghajnsielem Local Council, refurbishment of the
Club's toilets, 2 wooden doors for the premises,
showcase display for souvenirs and several other
fundraising activities (including BBQs, fishnight,
carwash, bingos etc). The treasurer again expressed his
disappointed with the local parish authorities for the
precious time lost relating the land adjacent the Band
Club Premises which is being projected for a
5-a-side pitch. After 7 months of title researches, it
was found that the land in question is owned by the
government. All MEPA permits have been approved and the
project can start immediately. Mr Rapa ended his final
speech by thanking all those who contributed for the
club.
