First Holy Communion for 29 children

(Sunday, 18th May
2008)

It was a special day for 20 girls and 9 boys as they received their First Holy Communion last Sunday afternoon. They left the Old Parish church at 4.45pm and walked to the Ghajnsielem parish together. A mass was then concelebrated by Archpriest Can Frankie Bajada. The children participated and sang all the hymns leading to the most special moment as each child received the Holy Communion for the first time.

The children are Roselle Azzopardi, Manuela Bogdonovich, Alison Bartolo, Jasmine Bonnici, Jessica Borg, Francesca Bugeja, Maria Bugeja, Elvira Buttigieg, Lourdes Buttigieg, Bernard Carabott, Martina Cardona, Matteo Ciangura, Kylie Fenech, Brent Mario Grech, Maria Nicole Grima, Kurt Grima, Neville Haber, Venera Muscat, Sam Anthony Pace, Ryan Portelli, Alicia Said, Annabel Said, Abigail Sultana, Maria Tabone, Yana Vella, Mary Lourdes Vella, James Xuereb, Loretta Xuereb and Christopher Zerafa.

First Communion is an important event in a Catholic child's life, in which they are fully participating in the Mass and, for the first time, receiving the Bread of Life and the Cup of Salvation.
