The Anton Cassar Primary
School together with the Gozo Collage organized a Field
Day which included several activities targeting the
mental and physical wellbeing of children in primary
education.
The programme activities
started with a march by the students followed by a short
speech by school headmistress Ms. Pauline Grech where
she explained the aim behind such activities. The
schoolchildren then took the reading of the Sport Oath
and the National Anthem was sung followed by the
hoisting of the flags. It was then time for the children
to start the field activities where a total of 8 games
were played. Children from different classes were mixed
together thus ensuring that everyone takes part.
Supervisor Silvio Grima told
Ghajnsielem.com that the difference between a 'Sports
Day' and a 'Fields Day' lies in the fact that the latter
ensures that all students take part in sporting
activities irrespective of their age, gender or
competiveness. A field-day also promotes well being and
in fact all students were given wholemeal bread, water
and cereals sponsored by Kellogg's.
A football game with the
teachers against the students ended this exciting day.
