87-year-old Loreto Xuereb was awarded the 15th edition of the 'Premju Gieh Ghajnsielem' for his contribution towards the development of the Ghajnsielem community particularly his voluntary work during the construction of the new parish church, the feast decorations, Ghajnsielem F.C. and St Joseph Band.  

Mayor Francis Cauchi handed the award during a special ceremony held at the Parish Center Concert Hall. In his speech, Loreto Xuereb shared some of this old experiences especially during the construction of the Parish Church under the tenure of Mons Espedito Tabone. Mr. Xuereb who was surrounded by his wife and family thanked God for giving him spirit to live at such age.
