Wednesday 1st April

7.00pm Fr Joe Cardona will deliver a spiritual meeting at the St Joseph Band Club

Friday 3rd April: FEAST OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS

6.00pm A penitential pilgrimage along the main streets of Ghajnsielem. The St Joseph Band will accompany the procession with religious and funeral marches.

 
Sunday 5th April - PALM SUNDAY

9.45am Ghajnsielem will commemorate the re-enactment of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem with the blessing of palm and olive branches at the Old Parish Church followed by a procession to the main square.

10.00am. The archpriest presides solemn concelebrated Mass with the participation of the Lauretana Choir.

11.00am. Inauguration of a Holy Week exhibition at the St Joseph Band Club. The exhibition will remain open all day until Easter Sunday.

5.00pm  Re-enactment of all the stages that Christ passed during his passion and death or in other words the Via Sagra around the main streets of Ghajnsielem

6.30pm Diocesan Via Sagra Djoċesana led by Gozo Bishop Mgr. Mario Grech  in Ta’ Pinu. The event will be broadcasted live on Lauretana Radio (96.5fm)

 
Wednesday 8th April

7.15pm Traditional annual program of religious music at St Anthony's Church featuring sacred music and religious literature, with the participation of the St Joseph Band under the direction of Mro Sunny Galea. Everyone is invited to attend.

 
Thursday 9th April - MAUNDY THURSDAY

9.00am Bishop Mario Grech presides the Chrism Mass. Most of the priests on the island will expected attend. During this ceremony, the sacramental oil is consecrated and distributed to the parishes of Gozo.

6.00pm Commemoration of the last supper of Jesus Christ and the institution of the Eucharist and Ordination Archpriest Fr. Frankie Bajjada will preside the solemn liturgy.

 
Friday 10th April - GOOD FRIDAY

3.00pm  The great liturgy on Good Friday consists of three parts, the proclamation of the Passion narrative in an extensive Liturgy of the Word, then the ritual manifestation of the Cross and its adoration, individually by each member of the congregation, and finally the act of thanksgiving in the distribution of Holy Communion.

*There is no Mass today. It is the only day in the Christian calendar when the Eucharist is not celebrated. It is a day of abstinence and fasting. It is a day when goodness triumphs over evil in all its expressions.

 
Saturday 11th April - EASTER SATURDAY

8.30pm Great Liturgy of the Easter Vigil: Blessing of Baptismal font and solemn co celebration of the Eucharist. Ceremony will be presided by Archpriet Can. Frankie Bajada.

 
Sunday 12th April  - EASTER SUNDAY: RESURRECTION OF THE LORD
10.00am Solemn liturgy of Easter
