The  Ghajnsielem Parish Church today concelebrated a thanksgiving mass in honour of Dun Karm Cassar who recently celebrated the sixtieth anniversary from his priesthood ordination. The mass was animated by the 'Ghajnsielem Ensemble' Orchestra, Lauretana Choir and the Nadur Parish Choir.

Being “Vocations Day”, Gozo Bishop Mgr Mario Grech augured that our youths might follow Dun Karm's exemplarily life and consider taking up consecrated life and be closer to Jesus. After the mass, several members of the congregation walked up the main aisle and one by one expressed their best wishes to Dun Karm. The ceremony was followed by a reception for immediate family friends and clergy in the Parish Centre

Dedicated his entire life to his native village, Dun Karm Cassar was heavily involved in many areas which shaped Ghajnsielem in the 20th century including the Ghajnsielem Parish, St Joseph Band, Ghajnsielem Football Club, the Catholic Action Youth Center, Krucjata Ewkaristika and Circolo Virgo Lauretana.
