Several dignitaries recently visited Mrs Maria Giovanna Rapa and presented her with a gift in celebration of the the occasion of her 100th birthday. Visitors included President Emeritus Fenech Adami together with his wife Mary, Mrs Kate Gonzi, the Minister for Gozo Giovanna Debono, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said and several Gozitan MPs. The activity was held at an elderly home in Mgarr, Malta where she is currently staying. She spent most of her life in St Anthony's street.

A few days later, Gozo Bishop Mgr. Mario Grech celebrated a mass at St Anthony's Church which was attended by her family and several friends from the Franciscan community. A banquet of flowers sent by President Dr George Abela was also presented to her during the celebration.
