Day 2
Monday, 28th June

The group departed for an afternoon of shopping in Auchan and the city of Sicaruca. At 6.30pm, the St Joseph Band took part in the Giro di Gala where it joined other local bands and marched along the streets of the town. The march was over 3 hours long and ended with the statue of St. Paul being carried outside the church amidst the sound of bells ringing, firecrackers and the crowd loudly crying “Viva San Paulu”. At midnight, many took the opportunity to see a spectacular show of fireworks and music in the main square. Several bandsmen especially the youths spent the rest of the night playing popular marches around the main streets of Palazzolo with several Italians joining them in the process!
