Seminar between Ghajnsielem and Tolfa
(Thursday, 2nd June 2011)

The Ghajnsielem Local Council together with the Council of Tolfa organized a joint workshop Tula Police Force and Maltese Police Force.  The seminar was held at the Grand Hotel Ghajnsielem last month and the group of police from Tolfa was headed by Mayor Alessandro Battilocchio. Assistant Commissioner R. Zammit from the Region B together with a police squad from Gozo participated in this seminar.

Several topics have been discussed among those of control enforcement of the community, monitoring control of alcoholic and drug abuse, immigration, and legal framework and new legislation according to EU law.

The Hon. Dr. Chris Said opened the seminar in which he thanked both local councils who for the past nine years managed to organize several cultural activities between them. He said that this was a very successful strong twinning in which several trip exchanges take place each year in order to keep this friendship alive. He thanked all the participants attending this seminar and encouraged both sides to keep organizing seminars of this type.

Executive Secretary Amanda Cauchi read a message for this occasion written by Mayor Francis Cauchi who couldn’t attend this seminar due to commitments on behalf of the Ghajnsielem Local Council abroad. The Ghajnsielem Mayor said that in the framework of EU values this was a good occasion for a change of best practices and experience among our local police in which it represents another step in the friendship among Tolfa and Ghajnsielem. He said that this was an opportunity to both police forces from two different European Union countries to share and discuss their respective experiences together.
