Several projects in
full swing at St Joseph band
(Sunday, 15th April 2012)
As summer is just around the corner
and the Feast of Our Lady of Loreto just 4 months
away, several projects are taking place at the St
Joseph Band Club. Qormi's Wenzu Grima is giving the
final touches to the elaborated sculpture which will
be decorating the main unit of the Musical Archive.
Structural work is taking place
underneath the concert hall where a large open space
is currently being excavated. Once completed, the
new room at basement level will provide extra space
to enlarge the current store area. A new larger
kitchen with cold-room facilities will also be
relocated in this level thus freeing the extra space
(currently being used by the present kitchen) in
order to enlarge the seating area of the snack-bar.
A lockers compartment unit will soon
be placed in the snooker hall. Built in mahogany
wood to complement the surrounding furniture, this
unit has been entrusted to Guzi Mallia.
Within the next few weeks, the
executive committee is also expected to launch a
call for quotations for the supply of PV panels on
the roof area of the club's premises. This project
is partly being funded by the EU.
