The
Malta
Philharmonic
Orchestra
performed
a
musical
concert
at
the
Ghajnsielem
Parish
Church
playing
a
diverse
selection
of
musical
pieces
to
reach
all
music
tastes.
The
concert
started
at
7.30pm
and
was
well
attended
by
the
Ghajnslemizi.
This
event
was
part
of a
series
of
concerts
in
various
halls
in
Malta
and
Gozo
aimed
to
help
people
who
would
have
otherwise
not
had
the
opportunity
to
attend
orchestral
concerts,
to
appreciate
the
beauty
of
the
world
of
classical
music.
The
orchestra
was
led
by
Musical
Director
Mro.
Michael
Laus.
The
Malta
Philharmonic
Orchestra
(Maltese:
Orkestra
Filarmonika
Nazzjonali)
is
the
national
symphony
orchestra
of
Malta.
It
was
founded
in
1968
and
was
originally
known
as
the
Manoel
Theatre
Orchestra,
where
it
was
in
residence
for
both
opera
productions
and
orchestral
concerts.
In
September
1997
the
orchestra
became
an
independent
body
and
was
officially
named
as
Malta's
national
orchestra.
