Leaders Nadur held to a draw
(31st December 2005)
Nadur ended a stretch of
six consecutive victories and had their lead over second
placed Kercem Ajax reduced to three points after being held
to a draw by Ghajnsielem F.C. Alex Ribic opened the
score in the 18th minute when he took advantage of
Darmanin’s position out of goal. The blacks scored the
deserved equaliser in the 73rd minute through a direct
freekick by Brian Meilak.

Christmas is marked
by various traditions, folklore and customs which are well
rooted in local religious beliefs. One Maltese tradition is
the Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve where a boy or a girl
does the preaching of the sermon instead of the priest. This
year it was Damon Hili's
turn to deliver the traditional preaching. Meanwhile we

Santa
comes to town!

On Christmas Eve,
Santa Clause was very busy with his annual home visits where
he delivered more then fifty gifts throughout the whole area
of Ghajnsielem. Santa’s voyage started at 6pm and finishing
around 11pm - just in time for families to make it to the
Midnight Mass. more
Caruana wins the 'Gieh Ghajnsilmiz' award
(9th December 2005)
Peter Caruana won
the 11th edition of the 'Premju Gieh Ghajnsilmiz'
for his outstanding contribution to the Ghajnsielem
Football Club. Mayor Francis Cauchi handed the award
during a special ceremony to mark Jum Ghajnsielem.
He is by far the most successful coach in the Club
history with a record of 410 points, 222 wins and 5
consecutive championships. more
Xuereb's work
unveiled by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
(1st December 2005)
Ghajnsielem
sculptor, Joe Xuereb has been commissioned to carve
a limestone sculpture to commemorate the visit to
Gozo by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, on 25th November
2005. This gift to the people of Gozo which now
is being displayed permanently at the Gozo Minsitry
building in Victoria, has been unveiled by The Duke
himself. more
Exhibition
commemorating Giuseppe Cali
(27th November 2005)
On mark the 75th anniversary of
the death of artist Giuseppe Calì, the Ministry for Gozois
organizing an exhibition of his works
found in Gozo at the Old Parish Church, Ghajnsielem. The
exhibition, entitled 'Giuseppe Calì Works in Gozo' will be
open until December 8. Cali was born in Valletta in
1846 and from early youth he showed marked gifts and
considerable promise as an artist.

Blacks still winless
(20th November 2005)
Ghajnsielem's
horrible start to the season continued with a drab
goalless draw against the team who is only slightly
worse off than the Blacks, S.K. Victoria W. The
match was a horrendous spectacle to the few fans in
attendance, where surface, atmospheric conditions
and poor form of both contestants conspired to make
the fare absolutely unwatchable. more

(13th November 2005)
Sabri Rais gave Xewkija
Tigers an important victory over reigning champions
Ghajnsielem and won three precious points which puts
them at the top of the table. The Blacks had Malta’s
ex-international goalkeeper Saviour Darmanin for the
first time in their starting line-up but they are
still second from the bottom after another
disappointing performance.

War Victims
Remembered
(6th November 2005)
This Sunday morning
several people gathered to pay tribute to the
victims of the two World Wars at the War Memorial.
The ceremony organized by the Ghajnsielem Local
Council. Mayor Francis Cauchi, the Archpriest Can.
Joseph Zerafa, the councillors , together with
relative of the victims laid flowers and bouquets
around the monument. more
Commemoration
of All Saints and All Souls
(4th November 2005)
November is seeing
hundreds of Ghajnsilmizi coming into the Sanctuary of our Lady
of Loreto to keep the commemoration of All Saints and All
Souls. They may not be days of obligation but, besides being
liturgically significant they have particular resonance in
Maltese culture. Although they are school holidays, for most
of the population they are working days.

(23rd October 2005)
Ghajnsielem dropped to
their third loss in succession when they lost to
Xaghra U. 0-2. Ex-Blacks striker N'dayi Kalenga and
Sylvan Galea scored the goals for Xaghra.
Ghajnsielem are one point off the bottom of the
table, presently occupied by S.K. Victoria W. who
lost to Nadur Y. 1-3.

Deborah
wins another prestigious Award
(17th October 2005)
After her success in
Macedonia, fifteen-year-old Deborah Cassar
participated for the second time in the “Golden
Cross International Singing Festival 2005” under the
direction of Anthony Grech on the 4th, 5th and 6th
August in the University of Malta. This year Deborah
participated with the song “Sweet Music” composed by
Mark Debono and words by Doris Chetcuti.

Sannat Lions confirmed
their potential to be among the main contenders for
the title with an impressive victory over reigning
champions Ghajnsielem F.C.. The Lions dominated over
the blacks throughout the match. In fact, the Blacks
never managed to penetrate Sannat’s rearguard and
the final result was 6-0

Youngsters 2-3
(9th October 2005)
Nadur registered their
first victory in the championship in a well contested match
where both teams had to recover the score and the decisive
goal was scored only five minutes from time.
Joseph Portelli opened the score for Nadur but Ghajnsielem
levelled the score a few minutes later with a close ranged
header by Adalberto Concalves following cross by Joe Attard.

Saint Francis of Assisi
celebrated
(8th October 2005)
As autumn arrives,
people in various places may notice something odd. A
procession of animals, everything from dogs and cats to
hamsters and even horses, is led to churches for a special
ceremony called the Blessing of Pets. This custom is conducted
in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all
creatures.St Anthony's Church dedicated a whole program of
activities to the patron whose feast day is October 4th.

Franciscan Youth Fest 2005
(25th September 2005)
For the third year,
the GIFRA group once again organised a festival full
of talent and fun. On Friday it was performed for
persons with special needs while on Saturday it was
performed for the public. Once again, it was a
festival that demonstrated to the invited public the
many talents the youth have. The festival was the
final product of three months of hard work.

Blacks out of the
Independence Cup
(18th September 2005)
Ghajnsielem dropped
to a 0-1 loss to Kercem A. at the semi-final stage
of the Independence Cup. The decisive goal was
scored by Alfred Effiong who converted a penalty
given for a foul on the same player by Renato
Conceicao. The Blacks felt that the decision was
harsh and had Jeremy Camilleri sent off from the
substitute bench for protests.

Daisy rocks Ghajnsielem crowd

One of Malta's
hottest and most well-known bands rocked the crowd
yesterday night with their latest singles together
with their famous song 'Room 7'. The concert was
held at the Ghajnsielem Football ground. A number of
local Dj's including Jay Joy, Alfie Fabri, Toby and
Cyber C continued to entertain the crowd by
performing the latest hits on charts.

all over Gozo intermingled with the Ghajnsilmizi on
Saturday evening to enjoy the feast of Our Lady of
Loreto. Hundreds of enthusiastic youngsters
accompanied St Joseph Band and Victoria's 'Banda La
Stella' from Hamri street to the main square. The evening

Weekend of
celebrations kicks off

people were in Ghajnsielem on Friday enjoying the famous "March tal-Balzunetta". St Joseph Band and Xewkija's 'Prekursur'
played marches in Mgarr Road, accompanied by the

Ghajnsielem mourns Joe Scicluna
(19th August 2005)
Ghajnsielem
is mourning the loss of one of its brightest lights.
Joe Scicluna passed away on August 15, at the age of
54. He was, by miles, the most intelligent and
learned person in Ghajnsielem while being one of the
first people to take part in the journalism section
of our parish. Joe was awarded the 'Premju Gieh
Ghajnsilmiz' in 2000 for his contribution to
Ghajnsielem. more
Feast Celebrations kick off
(16th August 2005)
Tuesday was a busy day for l-Ghaqda tal-Armar as
they were making the final touches on the "Triumphal
Door" in time for the start of the official
celebrations. In the evening, the titular statue of
Our Lady of Loreto was taken out of its niche and
taken to the Old Parish Church. It was the first day
of a whole two weeks of celebrations marking the
150th anniversary of the Parish.

amici di Tolfa!

A group of
70 Ghajnsilmizi spent a truly memorable week in
Tolfa (Italy) between August 7th and 14th. This was
the second time that an Ghajnsielem delegation
visited this beautiful Italian locality. And as
Tolfa Mayor Dr Alessandro Battilocchio said "This
trip was only the start of a new beginning"

Ghajnsielem not part
of Gozo
(27th July 2005)
The final
version of the revised electoral boundaries was
issued by the Electoral Commission yesterday after
having been unanimously agreed by the electoral
commissioners. Among the major changes is that
Ghajnsielem has been hived off the Gozo district and
now forms part of the 12th district. The new
boundaries cannot be changed for at least two years.

200-year-old painting
stolen from Mgarr
(16th July 2005)
An 18th
century ex-voto painting which was placed in the
niche as a fulfilment of a vow made by the two
fishermen after being saved from a storm has been
stolen from a niche in Mgarr harbour. The
canvas was framed and displayed behind glass close
to the berths of the fishing boats and portside
restaurants, but had nothing to secure it other than
a flimsy lock. more
Special Day for thirty-eight Children
(10th July 2005)
21 boys and
17 girls received their Holy Confirmation on Sunday.
The sacrament was administered
by Mons Nicholas Cauchi, bishop of Gozo.
Confirmation is a sacrament in which the Holy Ghost
is given to those already baptized in order to make
them strong and perfect Christians and soldiers of
Jesus Christ. more

The idea of
having a website dedicated solely to our village
started on March 2002 when Joseph Sultana, Kevin
Cauchi and Anthony Scicluna decided to launch
Ghajnsielem.com. The aim was to keep the emigrants
and local citizens up-to-date with what's happening
in our village. The site was born 3 months later...

L-Ikla tal-Imnarja
(29th June 2005)
As part of the
fund raising activities, l-Ghaqda ta’ l-Armar organized "L-Ikla
tal-Imnarja"in the main square. Well attended by the
Ghajnselmizi, the evening was described as a success by the
group. The money collected from this BBQ will be used to
finance the costs of the upcoming feast activities.

Ingenious coastal
weapon excavated
(20th June 2005)
A type of
cannon hewn into the rock, called a fougasse, is being
scientifically recorded at ix-Xatt l-Ahmar to find out more
about this form of coastal weapon.
The fougasse was of a conical shape and dug close to the
shoreline generally at a 45-degree angle. Its purpose was to
shower about 300 boulders of various sizes at an enemy
attempting to make port or enter a bay.

Carabott Honoured
(18th June 2005)
At the
Club's AGM, secretary Alex Spiteri announced that
David Carabott was the Club's Player of the Year. He
brought a wealth of experience with him to the Club,
and this would prove to be extremely useful in the
final two confrontations with the Tigers, both won
by the Blacks. Meanwhile, Frank Buttigieg was given
the Most Dedicated Player award.

Feast of St Anthony
(7th June 2005)
This week,
Saint Anthony's church will be celebrating the feast
of St Anthony of Padova. This feast opens the season
of the Summer feasts both in Malta and Gozo. During
the past few days, the Franciscan Youths were seen
working at odd hours or under a scorching sun in order
to settle everything in time! The main streets
are adorned with flags, statues and bulbs.

Season
(29th May 2005)
Ghajnsielem's historic championship season came to
an end with the loss of the Super Cup final to
Xewkija Tigers. The Blacks' main rivals over the
course of the season claimed the trophy with a 3-1
win over the Blacks. Ghajnsielem were at the
receiving end of several harsh decisions by the
referee.

Corpus Christi
celebrated
(29th May 2005)
The Ghajnsielem Parish, like the rest of the
Catholic Church, celebrated the feast of Corpus
Christi. Following the 4.30pm mass, a procession
with the Holy Eucharist was held. The Solemnity of
Corpus Christi, which is celebrated 7 days after the
Trinity Sunday and 60 days after Easter,
commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist.

A Special
Day for 31 Children
(22nd May 2005)
It was a special day for these children as they
received their First Holy Communion this Sunday
afternoon. A special mass concelebrated by
Archpriest Can Joseph Zerafa. The children
participated and sang all the hymns leading to the
most special moment as each child received the Bread
of Life and the Cup of Salvation for the first time.

Xewkija Tigers win
G.F.A. Cup final
(22nd May 2005)
After losing the decisive game for the championship,
Xewkija Tigers managed to beat Ghajnsielem F.C. in
the GFA Cup final. Thierry Tazameta scored twice for
Xewkija with Daniel Bogdanovic scoring for the
Blacks. Both teams will meet again for the BOV Super
Cup, the last honour of the season. In the
semi-finals, Ghajnsielem take on Nadur while Xewkija
will face Kercem Ajax.

Blacks in G.F.A. Cup Final
(19th May 2005)
Ghajnsielem edged a resilient Nadur Youngsters side
2-1 to reach the G.F.A. Cup final. The Blacks
withstood the Youngsters' pressure in the first
half, playing against a strong wind. In the second
half they pressed for the go-ahead goal which came
after N'dayi Kalenga headed in the rebound from a
Dominique Mbueko free-kick. Ghajnsielem will play
Xewkija Tigers in the final. The Tigers beat Kercem
Ajax 2-1 in the other semi-final.

Ghajnsielem's league championship celebrations
peaked on Sunday evening with a band march conducted
by the St. Joseph Band Club. A large crowd assembled
in the vicinity of the two club premises to soak in
the atmosphere which was also captured live on Net
Television. Birthday boy John Busutill celebrated
with cake and champagne and George Attard, a.k.a.
il-patis was announced as NetReplay's supporter

Ghajnsielem FC marched on to the semi-finals of the GFA Cup after beating ex Champions Zebbug
Rovers 5-2. After the match, the
Championship Cup was taken in a celebration-carcade round
Gozo. The
celebrations end on Sunday when St Joseph Band will greet the
Cup and march up to the Club premises where a Street
Party will wrap up the official celebrations.

Mgarr
Harbour: New Designs Approved
(13th May 2005)
The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA)
approved new designs for the construction of a sea
passenger terminal at Mgarr Harbour. The main
changes include a reorganisation of access routes, a
reduction in size and height of the terminal
building and a change in its external appearance. A
viewing tower has also been integrated in the
terminal building design.

Ghajnsielem brushed aside second division side St.
Lawrence Spurs to advance to the quarter-finals of
the G.F.A. Cup. Daniel Bogdanovic paved the way with
a goal midway through the first half. Stefan
Azzopardi headed in the second before the break.
Joseph Attard scored twice late in the match for a
4-0 win.

Minister, Mayor resist shift proposal
(10th May 2005)
Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and Ghajnsielem Mayor
Francis Cauchi yesterday hit out at the Electoral
Commission's proposal to shift Ghajnsielem from the
13th electoral district to the 12th. Francis Cauchi
said he was vehemently against the proposal, adding
that the villagers shared his feelings.

Style...

Ghajnsielem
F.C. will be officially presented the Championship
Cup next Saturday during the GFA Cup match against
Zebbug Rover. The Cup will then go for a
celebration-ride around the main streets of Gozo.

will greet the Cup (9pm) and march up to the Club

Celebrates Sixth Title
(1st May 2005)
May 1st,
2005 was a special day in the long and storied
history of Ghajnsielem F.C. The Club clinched the
sixth championship in their history with a 2-0
victory in a nail biting encounter against main
challengers Xewkija Tigers played in front of 3,000
people, a record for a regular season league match.
It was also Ghajnsielem's eleventh league win in a
row.

(1st May 2005)
Ghajnsielem F.C were crowned Gozo Champions for the
sixth time in their history after beating Xewkija
Tigers with two goals to nil on Sunday afternoon. Edoardo
do Nascimento and N'dayi Kalenga scored the
all-important goals. Hundreds of fans not only
witnessed the conquest of the Club's sixth top-tier
title but participated in it and in its aftermath.

Bells toll joyously
for Pope Benedict XVI's investiture
(24th April 2005)
The bells of the
Ghajnsielem Parish church tolled joyously while the
new Pope was being inaugurated as the 265th leader
of the Catholic Church. The festive tunes started at
mid-day and tolled for an uninterrupted fifteen
minutes to commemorate the occasion. The formal
inauguration of the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger
came in a tradition-steeped ceremony that officially
launched the pontificate.

Hundreds rally in
support, U/12 Champions
(23rd April 2005)
As Ghajnsielem F.C. prepares for the last match of the season
against Xewkija Tigers, the club organized a
Farmhouse Party to rally support for this important
match. Meanwhile,
Ghajnsielem's U/12 team beat Nadur Youngsters 3-0 in their
last match of the season and in so doing crowned a
glorious season, which saw them completely dominate
their league. more
Organizations meet, greet and discuss
(22nd April 2005)
The Local Council organized an informal meeting for
all the Ghajnsielem committees, organizations and
clubs. Many took this opportunity to discuss
and share their respective problems with each other.
They also promised to support and network each
other while working together for the benefit of the
whole village. more
The Final
Countdown...
(17th April 2005)
Ghajnsielem beat Victoria Hotspurs 4-0 in their
penultimate match of the season. The Blacks
struggled to take the lead and only did so three
minutes from the break through Richard Buhagiar.
Ghajnsielem scored the second through Bizu. Matthew
Portelli and the same Bizu then put the match beyond
reach. The Blacks are now looking forward for the
decisive encounter with Xewkija Tigers.

Title-challengers Ghajnsielem won three important
points in their challenge for the Championship as
they defeated Kercem Ajax by two goals to nil.
The goals were both scored in the second half by
Daniel Bogdanovic. Xewkija Tigers also registered a
2-0 win over Zebbug Rovers.

Pope John Paul II Dies, World Mourns
(2nd April 2005)
Bells tolled in Churches everywhere
(including
Ghajnsielem) as the Vatican announced the death of
Pope John Paul II. The Pope died in his private
apartment (Vatican) on Saturday evening at 9.37p.m.
Less than two hours before his death, his aides
celebrated mass by his beside and for the second
time since Thursday gave his last rites.

Pope recovery
(1st April 2005)
Today was suppose to be a special day for
Ghajnsielem as the village marks the 150th
Anniversary of the Parish. In fact, to commemorate
this event, this evening a special Mass will be
concelebrated at the Old Parish Church. But the
celebrations are being over-shadowed by the serious
condition of Pope John Paul II.
Locals are praying for the frail pontiff amid fading
hopes that he would recover. Our thoughts and
prayers are with the Holy Father.

Xaghra United 10-1
(26th March 2005)
After scoring eight goals in the previous outing,
the Blacks extended their positive run on top the
First Division table in Gozo thanks to an incredible
10-1 win over Xaghra United.
Kalenga Ndayi scored four of the goals, Daniel
Bogdanovic and Edoardo Do Nascimento two each while
Richard Buhagiar and Frank Lee Galea scored the
other two goals.

'Musica Sagra' at St Anthony's Church
(20th March 2005)
This evening, St. Joseph Band Club performed a 'Musica
Sagra' concert at St Anthony's Church as part of the
Holy Week activities. The programme, which started
at 7.30pm, was held at St Anthony's Church. The
compere for the evening was Miss Josepha Xuereb
while Fr. Christ read the Holy Week spiritual
meditations.

Holy Week starts with Palm Sunday
(20th March 2005)
The official celebrations of the Holy Week kicked
off today with what we call Palm Sunday. This Sunday
observes the triumphal entry of Jesus into
Jerusalem, that was marked by the crowds who were in
Jerusalem for Passover waving palm branches and
proclaiming him as the messianic king.

Ghajnsielem
marks a day of devotion
(18th March 2005)
Hundreds of Ghajnsilmizi followed the solemn
procession of Our Lady of Sorrow which went round
the main streets. The procession took the form of a
pageant with various participants dressed up in
period costumes to represent Biblical personalities.
The feast is considered as one of the most revered
in the Maltese islands.

Ghajnsilmizi packed the Ghajnsielem Parish Church to
enjoy the 18th edition of the Easter Pageant. 'Il-Qawmien' was written by JoAnne Debrincat and over 50

Ghajnsielem were
simply in a class of their own as they beat
champions Zebbug Rovers 8-0. Brazilian striker
Edoardo Do Nascimento scored a hat-trick, Daniel
Bogdanovic notched a brace while Richard Buhagiar,
Kalenga Ndayi and Matthew Portelli scored one each.
The blacks have now moved back on top the First
Division in Gozo.

Francis Cauchi
(re)elected Mayor
(13th March 2005)
Francis
Cauchi was automatically elected Mayor as
he managed to obtain the largest number of first
count votes. Francis has been the mayor of
Ghajnsielem since the inception of the local council
in 1994. The other
four elected candidates are Tony Lateo,
Stephen Mercieca, Larry Buttigieg and Joseph Debono.

Next
Saturday, the Ghajnsilmizi will be electing their
fifth Local Council Administration. As from this
year, the councillor with the largest number of
votes elected on behalf of the party that obtains
the largest number of seats in the council is
automatically elected mayor. The same applies for
the post of deputy mayor.

Pageant 2005: 'Il-Qawmien'
(5th March 2005)
Ghaqda
Drammatika Ghajnsielem will be staging the passion
play 'Il-Qawmien' on 14th and 15th March 2005 at
Ghajnsielem Parish church at 7.30pm 'Il-Qawmien',
written by JoAnne Debrincat is the 18th production
of the Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem. Over 50 actors
will be taking part.

Youth Exchange to Tolfa in August
(3rd March 2005)
The Twinning Committee is organizing a Youth
Exchange to Tolfa during this coming August. Youths,
aged 25 years and under, that wish to join this
group are requested to call at the Council Office in
order to reserve a place. Places available to adults
are limited therefore those who are interested are
urged to contact the local council immediately.

3-1 win against rival
Nadur
(26th February 2005)
Two goals
from Kalenga and Bogdanovic's goal from the penalty
spot gave Ghajnsielem F.C. another three important
goals against old rivals Nadur Youngsters. David
Carabott was sent off on the 33min of the 2nd half
while Nadur were awarded a penalty as Simoncic was
fouled in the box. But the Blacks easily managed to
control their lead over Nadur.

Blacks win top clash against Xewkija!
(13th February 2005)
Ghajnsielem
F.C. managed to obtain three important points
in a top direct clash. A penalty by Daniel
Bogdanovic on 28 minutes gave a 1-0 over Xewkija
Tigers. The blacks lead the table with 29 points,
two more then Xewkija, although the latter have
still got a game in hand. After this important win,
the club's premises was transformed into a
mini-discothèque as celebrations continued till
early morning.

Hundreds enjoy Monday Carnival Show
(8th February 2005)
The
Ghajnsielem Local Council organized a Carnival
Celebration which included performances by
various dance groups and a competition for the
best costume and masks. Several students from the
Ghajnsielem Primary school also performed in front
of the public while the Ziggy Wiggly Company closed
the programme with their spectacular magical
entertainment.

Ziggy Wiggy... A kind
of Magic!
(7th February 2005)
The main
attraction in the 'Gozo Carnival 2005' celebrations,
is undoubtedly the Ghajnsielem triumphal float
titled as "Bil-Magija Ttrijunfajt, F'Qasir Hin
Spettaklu Tajt". This year's Carnival Float has been
prepared by a considerable group of youths calling
themselves as "Ziggy Wiggy".
The Carnival
Float symbolises a figure dressed in an eagle like
costume playing magic with his large hat and wand in
his hand! On Wednesday, it was officially announced
that Ziggy Wiggy placed first in the Gozo Carnival
Floats Category.

Tolfa vestita in
Bianco!
(1st February 2005)
A huge snow
storm which took place just a few days ago covered
Tolfa with about 30cm of white snow. In fact, Mayor
Alessandro Battilocchio had to close up all the
village schools for four consecutive days.
Below-zero temperatures and drifting snow plagued
motorists as main roads leading to Civitavecchia and
St. Severa were completely blocked.

New signing as Blacks face Xewkija
(30th January 2005)
Richard Buhagiar, the ex-Malta international player,
has joined Ghajnsielem on loan until the end of this
season. Buhagiar, who has been playing for
Marsaxlokk for the past two and a half seasons, has
had some terrific performances for this club of
late. He made his reputation as an attacking
defender with Floriana F.C. and Malta. Meanwhile,
Ghajnsielem F.C. face Xewkija Tigers on the 13th of
February.

Three more points for
the Blacks
(23rd January 2005)
Ghajnsielem F.C. returned back on top of the First
Division table after defeating Victoria Hotspurs
3-2. Joe Attard and Kalenga Ndayi
opened the
score for the Blacks.
But
it was no easy game
as Victoria
equalised the score in ten minutes thanks to two
penalties by Maczerob Okoro. But in the final
minutes Bizu made it 3-2 for the Blacks.

Ghajnsielem F.C. sign Graham Bencini
(21st January 2005)
Ex-Floriana F.C. defender, Graham Bencini, who
became the Blacks' third January transfer window
signing, trained for the first time with the team
Thursday afternoon and is expected to debut for
Ghajnsielem on Sunday against Victoria Hotspurs.
Benici's "CV" includes Naxxar L., Birkirkara, Hamrun
S., Sliema W plus a number of appearances with the
National Team. more
New Twinning
Committee Meets
(10th January 2005)
Next
August's cultural trip to Tolfa was on top of the
Agenda as the new twinning committee held its first
meeting of the year. The meeting took place at the
Local Council’s premises and was chaired by Mayor
Francis Cauchi. The second cultural trip to Tolfa
will take place during the first or second week of
August.

Narrow 2-1 victory
against Kercem Ajax
(09th January 2005)
Daniel
Bogdanovic scored two second-half goal to bring the
Blacks back from the abyss and keep them on course
with a narrow 2-1 victory over bogey team Kercem
Ajax. Ghajnsielem had fallen behind late in the
second half to a Gotthard Conte goal. In another
match, leaders Xewkija defeated Victoria Hotspurs
2-1.

Bizu scores two on his debut
(02nd January 2005)
Brazilian
striker Edoardo Do Nascimento (better known as Bizu)
scored two goals on his debut for Ghajnsielem as the
Blacks defeated Xaghra United 4-1. The other two
goals were scored by Daniel Bogdanovic and David
Carabott who had joined the club last November from
Marsaxlokk. The Blacks are now just one point behind
leaders Xewkija Tigers but the latter have still got
a game in hand.
