An ideal weather triggered many Ghajnslemizi to leave their homes on Christmas Eve and enjoy the 'Purcissjoni tal-Bambin' which this year started from the Nativity Village. Hundreds of parishioners also attended the midnight mass while many decided to spend Christmas day with thier loved ones.  more

Ghajnsielem marked 'Jum Ghajnsielem' with a procession commemorating the feast of Our Lady of Loreto. The St Joseph Band Club accompanied the statue of the Black Madonna around the main streets ending with a bonfire which was lit in the main square - a tradition started just two years ago.  more

Ferdinando Apap, making his second consecutive start in attack, scored the only goal of the match in injury time to give the Blacks all three points that lift them above their opponents into second place in the table on 15 points.  more

Ferdinando Apap, who so far in his career with the senior team has featured mostly as a central defender, switched to a striker's role from the start of this match. The Ghajnselmizi responded positively for  the Open Day event at which aimed to raise funds in aid of the Community Chest Fund. The event included a kids's area, traditional food for sale, an emergency simulation by the Fire-Protection department and the Red Cross and a press conference by Dr Chris Said.  more

Ossok settled the encounter with a late penalty kick given for a foul committed by a St. Laurence defender inside his own penalty area. Mayor Francis Cauchi recently represented the Ghajnsielem Local Council at the 'IMED Initiative' conference in the Palermo. The IMED aims to create cooperative links between the minor islands of the Mediterranean including a cultural agreement between Pantelleria and Comino which forms part of Ghajnsielem.  more

Members from the theatrical company 'Il Barsolo' from the town of Tolfa recently took part in an evening of Italian song at the Citadel. Dozens of volunteers this weekend completed the structural works on the carpenter and blacksmith house and started making progress on the structures of the 'traditional market' area. Several children were seen busy painting the houses while others took some time off to play in the surrounding open fields. more

The Maritime Squadrom of the Armed Forces of Malta this morning berthed its flagship - the Diciotti-class P-61, at Mgarr Harbour, for its first ever open day in Gozo. The day was organised as part of the army's 40th anniversary celebrations. Several simulations were also held throughout the day.  more
