Go Back to the Time when Jesus was Born!
...spend
a night at the Bethlehem Inn
This year's
edition will once again offer you the unique experience of
spending a night at the 'Bethlehem Inn', a two storey ‘hotel’ with
four rooms for rent. The rooms are located on the first
floor with the breath taking views of the nativity village,
Fort Chambray and Mgarr Harbour and decorated in a
manner to take residents back to Judea of 2000 years ago.
Each room is furnished with a double bed along with a cosy
bunk bed, with clean sheets changed every day, blankets and
pillows as necessary to host a family of four. There is a
fire place, oil lamps, and water jug as well. The ground
floor will house the stables as well as a cafeteria where
residents can have breakfast. In order to accommodate larger
groups or bigger families the carpenter’s dwelling as well
as that of the blacksmith can also be made available for
accommodation on request.

Those
interested to live this wonderful experience can book either
a 1-night stay at the Inn or
take a 5-day package offered in collaboration with the Grand Hotel
which also happens to be a major sponsor of this event. The
Grand Hotel, a four star hotel which is located 5 minutes
walking distance from the nativity village, will be taking
all bookings for the Bethlehem Inn. Those taking the 5-day
package (with one of these nights spent at the Bethlehem
Inn) will have the extra benefit that their room at the
Grand Hotel will still be kept available, which means that
in effect they don’t have to relocate.
A Unique
Experience
Booking a night at the Bethlehem Inn is all about
experiencing the life of Jesus of 2000 years ago. This means
that there will be no showers, no running water, common
toilets, no TV, no AC, no electricity, and no
internet access! Each room will have a double bed
along with a cosy bunk bed with clean sheets,
blankets and pillows as necessary to host a family
of four. Each of these rooms will have a fire place,
oil lamps, cooking stove, a water jug, and a fresh
set of sheets changed every day.
During the morning following the night stay at the
nativity village, ‘residents’ can try hands-on
farming. There will be horses, donkeys, goats and
sheep to feed along with a wide variety of poultry.
There will also be cultivated fields that require
weeding. Residents will also be given the unique
opportunity to animate during the regular opening
hours of the nativity village, by dressing up in
period costumes to become the shepherd tending the
flock, or the baker’s assistant baking bread.
Breakfast is served at the Grand Hotel between 7.30
to 10.00 am. Self-service breakfast is also
available – residents can use tokens and a village
map that are included in the package to shop at the
village bakery and the grocery shops located at the
village centre.
