Rudolph Cauchi
Born in 1977

Rudolph Cauchi was born on the 29th of March 1977, son of Carmel and Mary nee Camilleri. He is the founder of the 'Ghaqda Armar' group which is in charge of the external feast decorations. Nowadays it is hard to find a person, mostly a youngster who is interested in his surrounding social life but this certainly does not apply to Rudolph whose love and dedication towards his native village was an inspiration to several youths.

Rudolph Cauchi took his primary education at the Anton Cassar Primary School in Ghajnsielem, then moving to Ninu Cremona Junior Lyceum and later at the Sir Michelangelo Refalo centre for further studies. At a young age, he had already started to show a great interest in arts

At the age of 14 he attended the Wistin Camilleri Art school to practise clay modelling. He later studied art drawing, gilding and also completed a four year course in stone sculpture where he was awarded first from all the students of the first year.

Rudolph Cauchi founded “L-Ghaqda ta’ l-Armar” in 1996 and with the help of several dedicated volunteers they managed to turn the main streets of Ghajnsielem into a unique attraction of banners, flags, statues, lights and decorative furniture. The center-stage of these decorations is at the main square with the Triumphal Arc being the main highlight.  Several old street decorations some of which date back to the beginning of the 20th century were either renovated or replaced. The group is also responsible for the external feast activities.

Rudolph Cauchi is also involved in several committees including the feast, radio, twinning and gsm youth group. He also served as secretary of the St Joseph Band Club.

In his speech, Mayor Francis Cauchi said that Rudolph was awarded for his sheer enthusiasm and whole-hearted dedication in making Ghajnsielem more attractive with his works specially during the feast.
