REVIEW

CUP FINAL LINE-UP

The Galea Cup was replaced as the season opening competition by the new knockout, the G.F.A. Cup. Għajnsielem took the lead in the last edition of the Galea Cup when Pawlu Debono's shot took a deflection and beat Calypsians' goalkeeper 16 minutes into the match.  The Blacks tried to build on their lead but were thwarted by the Calypsians' defence.  In the 25th minute of the second half Victor Mercieca scored following some confusion in the Blacks' penalty area. The Blacks had Teddy Grech sent off in extra-time but even though they were a man short they never looked like conceding. The Blacks won the Cup on penalties.

Francis Cauchi, Raymond Grech, Salvinu Xuereb, Teddy Grech, George Schembri, Nikol Cutajar, Toni Cauchi, Loreto Galea (c), Pawlu Debono, Karmnu Xuereb (John Zerafa), Vincent Cutajar
