Għajnsielem F.C. battled with
Xewkija Tigers for the Under/16 league
championship this season but missed out
by losing unexpectedly to Sannat Lions
in the last match of the season, after
building a two-point lead in the
standings with a win over Xewkija
earlier in the season. Xewkija beat
Għajnsielem in the championship decider.
Għajnsielem gained a measure of revenge
by beating the Tigers in a challenge cup
at the end of the season.
The Blacks took an early lead through
Marco Fenech but Xewkija fought back
with two goals. Time was running out
when Loreto Scicluna flicked in the
equalizer from close range. The Blacks
won the cup on penalties. |
