Champions draw opener
September 30
Defending champions Zebbug Rovers kicked-off their league campaign by drawing with Victoria Hotspurs 1-1. Rovers' striker Sylvan Galea equalized Kim Said's goal. Kercem Ajax and Xaghra United also drew 1-1 in the other midweek match.

Blacks feature in Division Two play
September 26

Four ex-Blacks featured in the first round of second division fixtures. Kenneth Mercieca and Joe Debono played for Qala St. Joseph in their 5-1 win over S.K. Victoria Wanderers. Mercieca, who was among the scorers, joined Qala in the off-season, while Debono signed prior to the league opener.  Jonathan Debono and Jonathan Grech, who are on loan with Oratory Youths as part of the Damian Iriele deal, played in the Youths' 2-0 win over Gharb Rangers. In the other second division match, Sannat Lions edged St. Lawrence Spurs 1-0.

10-men Blacks stun Nadur
September 26

Inspired by their fallen comrade, Ghajnsielem F.C. complete a stirring comeback and beat Nadur Y. 3-1. Anthony Portelli's 1st half goal was overturned by two goals from N'dayi Kalenga and a goal from Dominique Mbueko. These goals were scored after Brian Meilak's dismissal, 14 minutes into the 2nd half.

Under/16 side out of the cup
September 26

Ghajnsielem's Under/16 side started the season with a heavy defeat 0-6 (0-2) in the cup at the hands of Victoria Hotspurs, in the quarter-final of the U/16 knockout competition. Lineup: Charlie Azzopardi, Andre Xuereb, Anthony Zammit (Ryan Spiteri), Roderick Apap; Matthew Grech, Stefan Azzopardi, Miguel Refalo; Ryan Grima, Gary Sultana, Rodney Sultana (Charlon Tabone), Joshua Grech (Jonathan Sultana).

Club in mourning
September 21

Ghajnsielem F.C. mourns the sudden loss of Joseph Attard I, who passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning from an apparent heart attack.

Nadur claim Independence Cup
September 21

Nadur Youngsters won the 2004 edition of the Independence Cup after beating Kercem Ajax 5-3 on penalties. The two teams battled to a 1-1 draw after ninety minutes and two periods of extra-time.

Kercem Ajax surprised Zebbug Rovers 2-0 to book their place in the final of the Independence Cup. Nadur Youngsters saw off Xewkija Tigers 4-2. Tuesday, Nadur will be heavy favourites to lift the Cup for a record seventh time in the competition's history.

Zebbug Rovers beat Victoria Hotspurs 2-0 to reach the semi-final of the Independence Cup. They will play Kercem Ajax. In the other semi-final, Nadur Youngsters will play Xewkija Tigers. The final will be played on Tuesday.

September 15

Kercem Ajax beat St. Lawrence Spurs 4-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Independence Cup. They will play the winner of the Zebbug Rovers and Victoria Hotspurs quarter-final tie.

Damian Iriele joins Blacks
September 14
Ghajnsielem have announced the signing of defender Damian Iriele. The Nigerian defender plays for Gozo F.C. Last season he featured for Oratory Youths in the second division of the G.F.A. Jonathan Grech and Jonathan Debono, two of the Blacks' promising group of young players, will go Oratory Youths on loan for a year.

Victoria Hotspurs advance
September 13
Victoria Hotspurs beat Xaghra United 2-0 to move to the quarter-finals of the Independence Cup. They will play Zebbug Rovers on Thursday.

Last gasp winner for Nadur
September 12

Ghajnsielem lost 2-3 to Nadur Youngsters in the quarter-final stage of the Independence Cup. The Youngsters scored the winner with the last strike of the match through their Nigerian forward Chidi-Eric. Nadur had gone ahead through a Joseph Portelli goal. Joseph Attard equalized. Chidi-Eric put the Youngsters ahead in the second half, but N'dayi Kalenga equalized once again from a penalty in the 90th minute. Xewkija Tigers progressed to the semi-final after a 3-1 win over Qala St. Joseph. 

Kercem A. eliminate S.K. Victoria W.
September 9

In the third preliminary round tie of the Independence Cup, Kercem Ajax had a tough time against second division side S.K. Victoria W. In the end, Kercem emerged 4-3 winners. They will now face St. Lawrence Spurs.

Meilak blasts Blacks through
September 8

Ghajnsielem F.C. beat Sannat Lions 2-0 in a preliminary round match in the Independence Cup competition. Brian Meilak scored the opener in the first half. Herman Mifsud doubled the score in the second half slotting home the rebound of another Meilak shot. In the day's other tie, Qala St. Joseph beat Oratory Youths 4-0.

Kalenga & Mbueko to stay
September 6

Ghajnsielem have announced that they have agreed new terms with Congolese pair, Dominique Mbueko and N'dayi Kalenga. The two players are expected to play in the Blacks' season opener this Wednesday against Sannat Lions in the Independence Cup.
