Presentation of new signings
October 31

Daniel Bogdanovic and David Carabott, along with N'dayi Kalenga, Dominique Mbueko and Damian Iriele, today were formally presented to the supporters at the Club premises. Club President, Mr. Raymond Grech, informed the supporters of the sequence of events that led from the resignation to losing both N'dayi Kalenga and Dominique Mbueko (due to an initial de facto ban on foreigners this summer), to the new contract with the Congolese which kept them at the Club, the acquisition of Damian Iriele and finally to the shock acquisition on loan of former national team captain, David Carabott, and Maltese international Daniel Bogdanovic from Marsaxlokk. Raymond expressed his confidence that these five players along with a formidable group of experienced yet youthful homegrown players will give the supporters a lot of cheer in the months ahead. The Club PRO, Mr. Victor Xerri, a key figure in the Marsaxlokk coup, followed with a brief account of the saga. He expressed his admiration of Marsaxlokk President Victor Sciriha, with whom the Club has fostered an excellent relationship. Mr. Xerri lauded Bogdanovic and Carabott, without failing to remind those present of the remarkable career achievements of the latter. David Carabott and N'dayi Kalenga added a few words of their own emphasizing the need for unity in the pursuit of Club goals.

October 29

Daniel Bogdanovic and David Carabott have joined Ghajnsielem F.C. on a season-long loan from Marsaxlokk F.C. The 24-year old Malta international, Bogdanovic featured for the Blacks as a guest-player in the 1998/99 season. Daniel has played in attack for Sliema W., Naxxar L., Valletta and Marsaxlokk over the past five seasons. The prolific striker has also played abroad. His most recent experience was playing for Cherno More Varna of Bulgaria. For David, the ex-captain of the Maltese national team, it will be the first playing experience in Gozo. The thirty-six year old midfielder spent the best part of his career with Hibernians where he twice won the championship. He then spent three seasons with Valletta. In the first season, he was part of the team which made an unprecedented clean sweep of the championship and five cup competitions. Last year he moved on to Marsaxlokk and played a prominent part in the side's hugely successful season which saw the club qualify for European competition for the first time.
