Blacks sign Saviour Darmanin and Tarik Belhaj
October 31

Ghajnsielem have strengthened their squad by signing former Malta international and ex-Pieta Hotspurs and Birkirkara Saviour Darmanin and ex-Blacks player Tarik Belhaj. Brazilian striker Adilberto Goncalves was given his release.

Joint leaders lose perfect record
October 30

Kercem A. and Nadur Y. inflicted identical 1-0 setbacks on the joint leaders of the first division, Xewkija T. and Sannat L., respectively and in so doing brought to an end these two teams' perfect start to the season. Nadur Y. have now caught the leaders, with Kercem just two points further back.

Under/19 make a winning start
October 30
Ghajnsielem's Under/19 side, under the guidance of coach Alex Spiteri, made a winning start to the season with a 2-0 win over Munxar F. Ryan Grima and Roderick Apap scored the goals.

Free falling
October 23
Ghajnsielem dropped to their third loss in succession when they lost to Xaghra U. 0-2. Ex-Blacks striker N'dayi Kalenga and Sylvan Galea scored the goals for Xaghra. Ghajnsielem are one point off the bottom of the table, presently occupied by S.K. Victoria W. who lost to Nadur Y. 1-3. The Blacks' Under/12 side drew against Oratory Y. 2-2 (Adrian Cordina, Lornie Mizzi). The Under/14 were eliminated from the knockout competition by Xewkija T., who beat then 1-9 (Gabriel Cordina).

The Tigers march on
October 18

Xewkija Tigers edged S.K. Victoria W. 1-0 to keep pace with Sannat L. at the top of the First Division table. They are the joint league leaders with nine points after three matches.

Catastrophic collapse
October 16

Ghajnsielem collapsed to a catastrophic 0-6 defeat to title contenders Sannat Lions. Brazilian Ricardo Saverino scored a hat-trick. Debutant Mark Camilleri scored one and assisted on three of the goals. Reuben Mercieca and Mark Muscat rounded out the score. Xaghra United beat Kercem Ajax 2-1 in the other week-end match.

Good weekend for the youth sides
October 16

Ghajnsielem's Under/16 side beat Xewkija Tigers 2-1 in a knock-out match. Stefan Azzopardi scored one of the goals from a penalty. The Under/14 side registered yet another one-sided win, when they beat Nadur Y. 9-1. Gabriel Cordina (4), Justin Buttigieg (2), Robert Grima, Johnny Azzopardi and Kenny Hili scored the goals.

We have lost another friend
October 15
Frank Scicluna, below left, passed away October 14, at just 46 years of age. Frank, who resided in New York, was felled by illness. To say that he was a regular browser of this site is not nearly enough. www.ghajnsielemfc.com came to be, in large part, to put this Club one click away from his heart.

Gift wrapped
October 9

Ghajnsielem lost to Nadur Y. 2-3 in a match that will be remembered for the Blacks' eagerness to hand their opponents scoring chances in the most unlikely circumstances and, fatally, cheap goals. Adilberto Goncalves and Renato Conceicao (from the penalty spot) scored the Blacks' goals. The Under/12 side were supposed to play against Kercem Ajax, but the latter did not turn up for the match. Ghajnsielem are expected to be awarded a 3-0 victory by the Youth F.A.

Tigers join the Lions on top
October 6

Xewkija Tigers beat Nadur Youngsters 1-0 to move into a first place tie with Sannat Lions. The two teams have the maximum six points from two matches played.

Weekend round-up
October 2

Sannat Lions became the early season pace-setters with their second win in as many matches. They beat Xaghra United 2-0. Kercem Ajax jumped into second place with a narrow 2-1 win over S.K. Victoria W. The Club's Under/14 side kicked-off the season in style with a lopsided 12-1 win over Victoria H. in the knockout competition. Gabriel Cordina (6), Robert Grima (3), Jushuel Grech, Paul Camilleri and Luke Cauchi scored the goals.
