Ghajnsielem missed a great
opportunity to close in on the leaders when they drew 1-1 against bottom
club Xewkija T. Ghajnsielem conceded an early goal but reacted well to
level the score through Charles Mercieca (right). The Blacks came close on
several occasions to take the lead in the second half. They also ran the
risk of losing the match but the same Mercieca and Victor Agius were not
about to allow that and the match ended 1-1. In the week-end's other
matches Nadur Y. drew 0-0 against Xaghra U. and Sannat L. salvaged a point
against Kercem A. 1-1. The Under/14, hampered by some harsh refereeing,
lost to S.K. Victoria W. 1-4 (Robert Grima). The Under/16 sides lost to
Nadur Y. 0-1.
