Nadur Y. keep the pace
September 30
Nadur Youngsters kept pace with the front-running Victoria Hotspurs when they edged the struggling Sannat Lions 1-0.

Blacks pegged back by superior Reds
September 29
Ghajnsielem F.C. lost to Victoria Hotspurs 0-2 in their second league match of the season. The Blacks were undone by Ricardo Saverino who scored both goals for Hotspurs. Ghajnsielem missed an opportunity to get back in the game when debutant midfielder Nikola Slavchev missed a second half penalty. Striker Jerry Ogbuleke made his first competitive appearance for the Blacks. Martin Cremona also commenced his third stint at the Club when he was introduced as a second half substitute.

Blacks set for clash against Victoria H.
September 27
Ghajnsielem F.C. are set for their league clash against Victoria H. New faces are expected to be unveiled by the Blacks in time for this fixture. In the meantime, Xaghra U. and Kercem A. battled to a 1-1 draw.

Nadur Youngsters for the 10th time
September 21
Nadur Youngsters retained the Independence Cup by beating Qala St. Joseph on penalties in the final. The match ended 1-1. Neither team scored in the extra half hour. Nadur Youngsters scored 3 times to Qala's 1 goal in the penalty shoot-out.

Blacks stun Lions
September 16
Ghajnsielem beat Sannat Lions 1-0 in the league opener for both these sides. Darren Azzopardi is the hero of the hour. He pounced on a Sannat keeper mistake to blast into an empty net 30 minutes into the game. David Agius cleared off the line at the other end. Champions Nadur Youngsters kicked off their league commitments with a 3-0 victory over Qala St. Joseph. Earlier this week Qala St. Joseph beat Xaghra United 2-0 and Victoria Hotspurs beat Kercem Ajax 4-1.

Blacks pay the penalty
September 9
Ghajnsielem missed a great opportunity to contest the Independence Cup final when they could manage no better than a 0-0 against a Qala St. J. team reduced to ten men from the start of the second-half to the end of extra-time. Aaron Pendry had a penalty shot saved, Brian Meilak struck the post and Franklee Galea was desperately unlucky in front of goal with two shots that went wide of the Qala goal. Qala scored four penalties to Ghajnsielem's two (scored by Brian Meilak and Tarik Belhaj; Roderick Apap and Shannon Vassallo failed to score) to book a cup final appearance against Nadur Youngsters who beat Victoria Hotspurs 3-1 after extra-time.

Ex-Blacks captain makes his debut for S.K. Victoria W.
September 8
Ex-Ghajnsielem captain, Frank Buttigieg made his debut for S.K. Victoria W. in his new team's 4-1 win over Oratory Youths in the semi-final of the 2nd division knockout competition. In the final, Frank and the Wanderers will take on Zebbug Rovers, who eliminated St. Lawrence Spurs in the other semi-final. Buttigieg resigned from his position as Club secretary earlier this Summer, then asked for his release to the Wanderers following irreconcilable differences with the Club.

Meilak double stuns Kercem
September 5
Brian Meilak marked his return to the Blacks' side with a pair of goals, to lead Ghajnsielem into the semi-finals of the Independence Cup after a 2-1 win over Kercem Ajax. Meilak's second goal, a left-footed curler from outside the penalty area, arrived in the last minute of the match leaving no chance for Kercem to fight back. Victor Agius picked up where he left off last year by back-stopping this Blacks win with some fine saves, including one from a penalty shot.
