Ghajnsielem F.C. played
another friendly match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun. This
time the opponents were M.F.A. first division side Senglea Athletics.
The Blacks lost 1-3. Kenneth Mercieca scored Ghajnsielem's goal in the
second half. The goal reduced the arrears to 1-2. Mercieca was unlucky
not to claim a second goal when his shot came back off the bar. The
Blacks dictated matter for most of this encounter and were unfortunate
to concede three soft goals. The numerous supporters who made the trip
to Hamrun were disappointed not to see Brazilian striker Sarkis
Goncalves in action (he was rested due to a slight muscle ailment) but
must have been heartened by yet another energetic and polished display
by the Blacks.
