MATCH REPORT

Għajnsielem F.C. threw away a two-goal lead and lost 2-4 to Victoria Hotspurs so that now the two teams have to play a relegation decider to determine which of the two last-placed teams will play second division football next season.

Jurgen Tashi and Jason Portelli scored two quick goals around the quarter of an hour mark in the first half. Julius Emanche scored direct from a free-kick just before half-time. Hotspurs should have leveled the score in first half stoppage time when Jonathan Grech fouled Daniel Farrugia inside the penalty area. Emanche's shot was saved by Richard Sammut.Ten minutes into the second half Joseph Buttigieg fouled Antoine Camilleri in the penalty area and this time Daniel Farrugia took responsibility and scored the Reds' equalizer. Buttigieg was sent-off. Five minutes later Oliver Farrugia scored Hotspurs' go-ahead goal and in time added-on Antoine Camilleri scored into an empty net after Richard Sammut had pushed up the field in a desperate attempt to save the match for the Blacks.
