President's Cup
The
President’s Cup was organized by the G.F.A. prior to the commencement of
the 1982/83 season and it pitted together two of the teams that were in
the best form at the time: Xewkija Tigers who went on to win their second
championship and Ghajnsielem F.C. who were strengthened at the time by
some of the stars of the 70’s like Loreto Galea, Vincent Cutajar, Toni
Cauchi, Leli Refalo, Raymond Buttigieg and others. The match was an
intriguing affair, however, the Blacks were superior on the day to the
Tigers and they made such supremacy count by scoring four goals (Loreto
Galea, Marco Fenech, Richard Attard and an own goal). |
