Division Two
The
second division championship was first organized in the 1945/46
season.
The
Blacks are fortunate in that they have competed in a lower division
for only eight seasons in their history. In the 1962/63 season they
just missed promotion, which they gained as second division
champions, unbeaten a year later. In
the 1965/66 season they won six out of
six on the way to the second division championship. In 1981/82
the Blacks’ only defeat came in the meaningless last match of the
season when they were crowned second division champions for the
third time in Club history. The 1984/85
second division championship winning team made history by remaining
undefeated and not scored upon in league play. The least remarkable
of all was the season 1991/92 when Ghajnsielem finished fourth in
the second division. This meant that the Club ranked twelve in the
G.F.A., the lowest in Club history. The season after Ghajnsielem won
promotion not as champions for the first time ever.
The 1998/99
title in the first division, premier format, can be considered as
the fifth second division championship. This Blacks left their mark
for their prolific scoring when they scored 41 goals in twelve
matches. |
