The first
competition organized in Gozitan football was the Zammit Cup. For this
challenge cup Ghajnsielem played the Victoria Scouts on May 21,
1936. The
silver cup was sponsored by the Prince of Wales Engineering Workshop owned
by Mr. Bernard Zammit of Marsa. Ghajnsielem won the match 2-1. Joe Cassar and Elija Debono
scored the winning goals on this historical occasion.
